The rig

A circular truss, carrying a full lighting rig, flown over a round centre stage, inside a hall of white columns and balconies built for an entirely different purpose. The gala's identity, "A New Beginning," ran across a striped backdrop lit from the truss above.

The room

Red-and-green LED graphics and side screens ran the awards segment; a camera operator worked the balconies to bring the room to the screens in real time.
